My name is Kylie Compe, and I am determined to change the world through the art of storytelling. I describe myself as an explorer, photographer, journalist, producer and environmentalist. I graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Studies and Journalism — Reporting, with certificates in Digital Studies and Photography.
My educational background has primed me for a career in storytelling. I’m looking to pursue a career in journalism, photography and/or documentary filmmaking with a focus on environmental issues and education. I currently work as the lead producer for Into the Outdoors, an environmental education series for youth that airs on PBS. This position has given me a sense of power in knowing I am capable of educating the future of our society. I’d like to take this knowledge and apply it to investigative-style environmental documentaries.
I use my passion for traveling as an opportunity to broaden my view of the world, and learn more about people, cultures and the planet. My goal through documenting about my experiences is to entertain, educate and inspire others to push their boundaries and discover the world around them.
